About
Starveil · Beyond the Veil
Starveil is a browser-based space empire game set in the Commander Age — a galaxy where authority has fractured, and every commander builds an empire world by world, fleet by fleet, decision by decision.
Beyond the Veil
Why the stars feel unfinished
The old routes still cross the stars, but the powers that once controlled them are gone. Independent commanders rise from a single colony: mines, research, fleets, alliances, and the dangerous temptation of temporary Rifts that open into the Veil — a frontier that does not obey the geometry of normal space.
Veilium, overmatch, living System commanders and abandoned derelicts are not just features. They are the pressure that reshapes what power means when no empire is inherited — only assembled.
Built on a lineage
OGame · SpacePioneers · and what comes after
Starveil deliberately picks up the classic browser-games grammar — planets, production, research, fleets, diplomacy and timed warfare — familiar from games like OGame and SpacePioneers. The goal is not nostalgia for its own sake. It is to keep the depth of that loop and push the systems further: clearer combat logic, living NPCs, Veil expeditions, fair ranking and a universe that still feels like one continuous war of logistics and nerve.
- The core loop stays readable: grow an economy, open tech, expand, move fleets, and contest space.
- The frontier goes further: the Veil, Rifts, invasions, claim missions and commander-scale systems that classic titles only sketched.
- Rules stay player-facing — Wiki, News and Patch Notes document what actually ships, not marketing fog.
No pay-to-win
Rank is earned in the galaxy, not at checkout
Too many browser empires drifted into pay-to-win ladders. Starveil is built to break that habit. Optional support exists so the lights stay on — hosting, tools, time — but it must never buy an unfair edge. Cosmetics and convenience may appear in the Shop later; dominance must still be decided by play.
One developer
Closed Alpha, built in the open
Starveil is currently designed, coded and operated by a single developer. That means sharp focus, honest priorities and the occasional rough edge — and it also means every fair rule, every hotfix and every Veil expedition lands because someone chose to ship it. Closed Alpha is the shared workshop: live universe, moving balance, feedback welcome.
If Starveil gives something back
Optional · Never a shortcut
If the Commander Age is worth your evenings, you can help keep the servers and the work going. Support is gratitude — not a weapon.
